Week 42's theme was "After"
These are carved wood corbels from Qing Dynasty of China. A Chinese corbel is an architecture feature attached to the tops of columns to support a roof or balcony of a home or temple.
Corbel was first developed in China during the Western Zhou Dynasty (c. 1050-771BC), they later became a common feature of Chinese architecture. The original purpose of these corbel was to bear the weight of the roof or balcony, but served only decorative purposes.
How do these corbel relates to the "After" theme? I'll leave that open for interpretations by viewers (and, of course, I have my own interpretations also).
